Warren Hansen Seminars

Australian Taekwondo Olympian and 2004 Assistant Olympic Coach Warren Hansen, ran three seminars for the TUNZ's red and black belts in November.

This series proved very popular and 100 TUNZ members gaining benefit of Warren's knowledge both as a past fighter (USA & International Cup champion, 10 times Australian champion) and current coach.

Warren is Head Coach at Halls gym in Melbourne where he is responsible for 26 other coaches and a membership in excess of 1,000 students.

Auckland had 23 attendees, Wellington 34 and Christchurch 43.

The seminar included Olympic sparring techniques & strategies, warm up and cool down, competition kicks, stance and footwork, tactics (ringcraft)- open and closed stance – controlling game – corner and line work, training drills and recovery.

Many of the coaches in attendance commented upon Warren's professionalism and sound training techniques and also gained comfort that many of them are already teaching much of what Warren covered but it was in the delivery of such that differed.

Warren will be back again for another seminar series in the not too distant future.

A special thanks to our TUNZ Business manager, John Schofield, for coming up with this initiative as a result of past contact with Warren in Melbourne and also for managing this series.
