Huntly Kickboxers at U.M.A.N.Z 2006 Champs — Huntly Martial Arts Club do well at TKD champs

On the 13th May 2006, 6 of our adult fighters went to partake in the United Martial Arts 2006 NZ Championship. They were James, Blake and Troy Harbottle (Black belt to 2nd dan ). Maree Thompson and Mihana Nelson (Womens Yellow belt Divsion) and Tauira Ponga (Mens Yellow belt Division).

All in all a very successful day with Mihana and Tauira winning their Divisions conclusively. Both had excellent finals with good displays of offensive attack and rock solid defence.

The Harbottle boys ended up fighting each other in the semis with James advancing to fight an ITF fighter from Auckland. It was an awesome fight with many combos which included offensive and defensive techniques. It was a close fight with James coming second.

Martial arts was the winner today. We made lots of new friends and contacts for future tournaments. Congratulations to Tama's fighters from Huntly TKD who swooped the medal pools and took out the best club trophy! An excellent day for Huntly Martial Arts Clubs
