Grandmaster Kwang Jo Choi confirms visit to New Zealand

“The founder of the global Martial Art Choi Kwang Do; Grandmaster Kwang Jo Choi will visit New Zealand in 2008” says Caroline Hazelden, Chief Instructor and School owner for North Shore based Martial Art – Choi Kwang Do Albany Bays (www.choi.co.nz).

In 2006 Grandmaster Choi was inducted into the Tae Kwon Do Hall of Fame. His style of Martial Art has been reported by news organisations such as Fox, CNN, ABC and USA Today all carrying stories on Choi Kwang Do.

Born in Tae Gu City, Korea in 1942 and moving to Atlanta Georgia, USA in 1970, Grandmaster Choi has taught martial arts to the American military at Fort Benning, the largest infantry centre in the U.S; to the U.S Rangers; to Georgia law enforcement officers; narcotic agents; and tens of thousands of Choi Kwang Do students around the world. 

In recognising the international contribution of Kwang Jo Choi and in celebration of his Korean heritage, we welcome members of the Korean community to join in our celebrations.

What is Choi Kwang Do?

Choi Kwang Do is a unique martial art based on scientific principles and developed to promote optimum health, fitness and self-defense, not winners in sports competitions. It is a true family martial art focused on wellbeing and self defense offering a non contact, non competitive environment.
