I have known Scotty for many years now through my military CQB instructing duties and can tell you he is respected by those that he has trained for his physical training and battle conditioning expertise.

My daughter Jessica received a program personally written by Scotty to assist her with her training for wrestling and also to aid in her recovery from an ankle injury.

You hear many gyms promoting boot camp type training without the instructors ever having been military PTI qualified.

This will be as close as it gets to military physical fitness and battle conditioning for civilians and the services SpecForce will provide include circuit training as well as individual custom training programmes, training camps and much more.

We at the Todd Group, being the only provider of special operations European CQC/CQB in New Zealand and operating the oldest private training facility of military European unarmed combat globally, are very careful to align ourselves to only those that are committed lifers in their fields.

The Todd Group has over 35 depots nationally and internationally with all depot instructors having passed the gruelling phase one test under the New Zealand headquarters training staff.

We were looking for a new central facility in Auckland for all our Auckland area depot instructors to receive continuation training from and to conduct regular entry-level phase 1 Todd Systems training at.

The timing could not have been better and with Scotty and I knowing each other and both always striving for excellence in our fields of expertise the perfect professional relationship was the obvious way forward.

Scotty and I attract serious service personnel, responsible realist civilians and elite sports persons in a wide range of sports including combat sports and SpecForce will be able to provide the Todd Group CQB exponents and instructors with an excellent practical specialist training facility for all their combat conditioning and battle fitness training requirements.

On the other hand the Todd Group instructors will be able to provide unarmed combat, self-defence and tactical control restraint training courses for members at SpecForce.

Scotty was clear he only wanted the Todd Group to provide any CQB/CQC self-defence and tactical control and restraint training out of SpecForce and the Todd Group is more than happy to provide all such training.

I will personally conduct Todd Systems training at SpecForce every 6 to 8 weeks and will have my Auckland-based assistant instructors on roster providing phase 1 training weekly there.

SpecForce will be planning training camps for fitness and conditioning like the CQC training camp pictured above, run by the Todd Group. The Todd Group and SpecForce will combine to provide unarmed combat and self defence training on such courses.

Scott Cottier is the brains and brawn behind SpecForce Elite Fitness Training. Coming direct from his five-year engagement as head trainer with the Special Forces, Scott has developed SpecForce and makes his well-guarded, unique Training System available for the first time. He has a Diploma in Fitness, is NZQA accredited in Fitness, Recreation, Facility Management and adult education.

He trained the NZ Black Sox, NZ Residents, Junior Kiwis, and Secondary Schools Rugby League Teams and played a pivotal role in developing Strike Force Gym’s 2009 National title champions. He has also trained race car drivers, basketball players and designed individual programs for the last fifteen years for all types of people dedicated to changing their ways to a healthier lifestyle.

The Forces [SF classes]

FORCE BASIC

Anyone can attend this session and is designed to build that basic fitness level if your starting back into training again. More emphasis on enjoyment but with the added encouragement, you will be leaving this session wanting more. Low – Med intensity.

FORCE EVOLVE

To attend this session you have to attend at least 10 sessions of Force Basic to build that aerobic base. Once you’re happy to give it a go, then attend the monthly fitness test to reach the desired level to start training with this increase of intensity. This is designed for those that enjoy their fitness but don’t want to be pushed to hard. Mid-High intensity.

FORCE ELITE

Attend 15 or more sessions to trial for this elite and extremely tough class. Once again reaching the desired target on the fitness test, will see you join a band of highly competitive and fit individuals. There is a huge benefit to be part of this group with weekend activities and events to attend, whilst having the pride to wear the sort after Force Elite apparel. It is one big family of similar people keen to be pushed to an entire new level. This number is limited, so commit early to get your place now. High -Extreme intensity.

FORCE SERVICES

Are you currently in the Armed Services, want to be or just would like to see how they train, then this session is for you. Designed around self motivation this is a great chance to build the relative strength and fitness base you require to remain active within your employment. If you’re looking to join, then training alongside the real deal is a great way to see what you need to reach that ultimate goal. Med-High Intensity.

FORCE WOMEN

Do you feel nervous training alongside males, don’t have the confidence to train in large populated gyms, want to build friendships with other women of similar endeavours? Then this session is for you. Conducted during the day, there is plenty of space to excel and let all your inhibitions go and train the way you have always wanted to without the fitness freaks looking at you funny. Low-Med intensity.

FORCE LUNCH

Ever feel guilty sitting at your desk all day, or just need to get out of the house? Then this is a session for you. Only 30 minutes long, it caters for all types of fitness levels where you can arrive, get changed, work up a sweat, have a shower and back at work or home within the hour and be wrapped you have achieved something amazing for the day.

FORCE OVER 35s

For all those over 35s (the new 50s) keen to change that lifestyle to one of health, energetic and enjoyment. Meet new people, come and have fun whilst still building a fitness level you thought you never had. Low intensity training, this could be the start to a healthier lifestyle you have been looking for.

FORCE KIDS

So your children need fitness for an upcoming event? They eat poorly and need outside assistance? They need some motivation to understand that fitness isn’t just on an XBOX? They need some discipline and a new found interest to make them better kids? Then this session is for them. Drop your kids off, have a coffee whilst you wait or utilise the cardio or weight machines on offer. Qualified Military Physical Trainers have plenty of experience to get the best out of your child no matter their ability. A tough approach doesn’t always work, but with the skills to make the child accountable, they will love you for it. Plenty of education and homework for these kids. Low-Med intensity. Ages between 12-16.

FORCE SECURE

Ever wanted to learn to defend yourself? Want to feel more confident within yourself in any situation? Then this is the class for you. Highly qualified and professional instructors from the real CQB school of hard knocks. This caters for anybody, no matter the gender, who are keen to learn the basic skills of defending yourself. Low-High intensity.

FORCE RUNNING

Enjoy running? Want to learn the periodised way to train correctly for half, full marathons and triathlons? Want to keep and maintain this type of fitness for general fitness? Then this is for you. Plenty of knowledge passed on here from highly qualified instructors who will be there with you the entire time. Caters for all types of fitness levels. Low- High intensity.

FORCE BOXING

Keen on learning a new way of fitness, or maintaining that skill? This session is designed not only on boxing, but the foundation around it to make you quick, fit and confident in your own ability. This is not the average boxing classes seen at other gyms, there is a real sense of achievement and unique way of training that has you wanting more. Med-High intensity.

FORCE CHALLENGE

Conducted on Saturday and Sunday mornings, this is catered for anybody where everyone can be involved. An emphasis on competition, this is an enjoyable weekend session to make you feel great and energetic for the lazy day ahead. Bring the entire clan for a family day out, shower here then go to town? APRIL LOSES IT CHALLENGE

You have seen in the Women’s Weekly, now have the expertise right at your finger tips. Have an assessment with one of the SpecForce Fitness instructors (which is overseen by the creator of the program, Scott Cottier) and be given a specific program designed change your lifestyle forever.
