After demolishing Colin Wilson in Auckland recently, Shane Cameron, one of our greatest heavyweight prospects, took off to the U.S.A. for 10 days where he sparred with Mike Tyson.
Accompanying him were Don Mann from The Warriors and trainer Danny Codling. Danny did a fine job of interviewing Mike on a one to one commentary, and Shane gained some valuable experience by sparring with the once great Heavyweight champion. Now trained by the legendary Australian Jeff Fenech, Mike was planning a new comeback, but unfortunately things didn't work out in his recent fight with Irish heavyweight Kevin McBride, when the former World Heavyweight Champion quit after the 6th round. Tyson, who told his Irish foe that "he would gut him like a fish" said "I don't have the guts to fight any more."
But Shane Cameron was happy just to be in the ring with the great one, and told me recently that Tyson still packed a punch.
A great experience for Shane, who is due to launch his U.S. career as early as August the 7th in Florida. Best of luck Shane, you are looking good, and we hope you have a great boxing career.
