May 31st will see the next step in building an international fight league for women.
The leagues aim is to build a strong and legitimate fight arena where female fighters regardless of which continent they are from will know they are being treated with fairness and respect.
As founder of the league I was tired of the lack of events for women and when fights were available the athletes being chosen for the size of their chest or the pertness of their butt and while Princesses of Pain have some good looking fighters it isn’t an important attribute when building a fair league. So leave your bikinis at home and be ready to work hard when you sign on to fight in our arena.
- Fighters must have the skills and the training
- They have to be a representative (some-one whom represents the sport and the women involved in it well, no bimbos need apply).
- Fighters have to respect the sport, its safety standards and each other
Princesses of Pain aim to be seen as unbiased, fair and above everything safe.
We want the world to know we are normal women who just like to fight, we work as hard and want to be as respected as the guys and just because we can take a punch doesn’t we are butch (well not outside the ring anyway).
ON May 31st the Australasian team will face off against their counterparts from America in stage two of the league. Stage three is already being planned and will see the inclusion of either the Asian team or a European team depending on which continent supports the growth most e.g. sponsors and TV contracts(both areas are showing strong interest).
This event will see Australasian champion Fiona Muxlow (Australia) come up against respected and experienced fighter Elaina Maxwell (USA) both women are great leaders and intend to lead their teams to victory.
Also on the card are Mandy Stewart (Australia) and Van Do (USA) who have high achievements in the sport and will fight for the U52kg title.
Leigh Anne Banham (New Zealand) will go up against Shawn Tamaribuchi (USA) in what will be a battle of wills since Leighann has excelled in the stand up arena and Shawn is the more experienced MMA fighter.
We also have new to MMA Amanda Lucas (USA) and Nicole Kavanagh (New Zealand) both women come from strong fight gyms and we expect to see great things from them.
Also on the novice pool are Margaux La Trobe (New Zealand) and Tamara Parks (USA) again both from strong fight gyms.
There are other fights on the card yet to be announced, but on the stand up side we have Australasian champion Michelle PRESSURE Preston (New Zealand) going up against Katie Meehan (USA) in what will be a title fight for u55kg fighters. Michelle is an experienced fighter whom commands respect all over the world and Katie has an impressive amount of knockouts on her record so it going to be a battle to watch.
Bronwyn Wylie another Australasian finalist will fight for the u59kg title
There are several more important fights which are in the process of being confirmed and also a full under card.
To add to the female fights we are honoured again to say that we have had an incredible number of male fighters wanting to show their support of the girls so we have added
Rex Radford (AKA Princess) VS Tom Sheppard (stand up) both from New Zealand.
From USA Chabasco Looney VS (TBA) will be fighting MMA
As it is a female’s league we accept a limited number of male fighters but really appreciate all the support we get from the guys, really guys thanks a bunch.
Princesses of Pain have made amazing progress in the last six months and although I dreamed of the girls having big opportunities I can now see it is becoming a reality. Our series has just aired in NZ and will air soon in both Israel and Romania with very strong interest coming from all of Europe and Asia. In addition to this the American networks don’t pass me off on the secretary any-more but actually take my calls and listen with interest (we will get them soon enough). Sponsorship has also increased and I am grateful to all the sponsors who are giving what they can to support the girls and making this huge growth possible. Obviously with the increased media attention the women of fighting are a good place to put your advertising dollar but we know in this climate it’s a tough choice so thanks for choosing us.
Stay tuned as we uncover more about the event in the coming weeks.
Cheers,
Belinda Dunne
