Great news for boxing fans is that Joe Frazier, on the the great World Heavyweight Champions, is headed 'down under'.

Joe will be a guest commentator at this years "Fight For Life" in July 2005. The colonial, Bob Sheridan, is also expected to be here to commentate.

Joe did come here in 1975 after fighting Jimmy Ellis in Australia, for an exhibition match at Auckland's Carlaw Park. I was handing around the dressing room as usual when an Auckland Boxing official said I could have 5 minutes with the ex-champion. I did take one photo and got lots of items autographed.

I did try to find Joe at his hotel but never managed to find him. His courtesy car was outside. His family was with him so I didn't like to bother him too much.

The night at Carlaw Park was not great, with some showers, but the show went ahead.

Joes exhibition was with Maile Haumona and battling La'auasa was the the main fight with Jone Mataitini, Fiji Champion.
