The Auckland Boxing Association staged the last promotion of the year at their headquarters at 1 Ngahura Street, Eden Terrace, Auckland on December 8^th. In the main event Daniella Smith (65.8kg) retained her New Zealand welterweight title with a unanimous point’s decision over former kick boxer Lisa Mauala (66.3kg) over six rounds. 

Although there was nothing wrong with the male amateur under card the sheer skill and speed of Smith and Mauala left their efforts for dead. Daniella forced the pace from the outset but tended to look for the one big shot. Lisa beavered away with straight lefts mainly to the body. The last round was a ripper with both going toe-to-toe although it was disconcerting to see Lisa’s fringe constantly getting in her eyes. The reasonable sized crowd gave them a standing ovation at the final bell.
