The NZ Open Sumo Championship 2006 & NZWPW PowerPlay 3 will be at the Lower Hutt Town Hall, on Good Friday, April 14.
Six international, and the best of New Zealand's, Sumo Wrestlers will be squaring off in the ring on Good Friday, April 14. The international visitors come from the United States of America, and Australia, while the New Zealanders feature competitors from South Auckland and youth from St. Bernard's College. In the Youth division, they will be competing for the right to travel to Estonia for the World Junior Championships. In the Senior division, the winners will travel to Osaka, Japan in October.
Immediately after the Sumo Championship, the men and women of New Zealand Wide Pro Wrestling will take to their stage, the squared-circle. This will be Lower Hutt's first opportunity to catch the stars of New Zealand Wide Pro Wrestling in the Lower Hutt Town Hall this year.
The show is looking explosive with the final matches now confirmed on the card, bringing the total to seven action-packed competitions:
- The NZ Heavyweight Champion JUICE will put his title on the line against the challenger D-HOYA
- Adam Avalanche (the One-man Natural Disaster, who destroyed the floor at Otaki at St. Patrick's Day BASH) will take on Jimmy Sparx and C.D. in a Handicap Match (2 on 1)
- The fiery one himself, Inferno, will meet the devious RAM in a battle to determine who will be the #1 Contender for the NZ Heavyweight Championship. This match will secure a shot against Friday's winner of the NZ Heavyweight Championship Title match, at a future event
- In Tag-Team Action, N.O.S and H-Flame team-up to take on The T-Phullas, Max Damage and "Silencer" Jean Miracle
- "Shining" Nick Silver will battle the 3-time NZ Kickboxing Champion "Dangerous" Dan "Da Man" Stirling. Both of these individuals combine martial arts skill with professional wrestling training to bring a unique and exciting style of match to the audience
- Chrome is scheduled to face Anarchy. Anarchy is a newcomer to NZWPW, but he shows a lot of talent
- And, in a women's match, the returning TNT will face off against the Angel of Destruction.
