Last weekend at the Youth Olympic Festival in Australia the same young team of Kiwi judo players that took on the Junior Worlds with ferocity, brought home five medals out of six people. The three bronzes were won by Lisa Archbold, Alister Leat, and Sean Calder, one silver from Adam McGarvey, and one gold, won by Tim O'Hara from Wanganui. The team well out shined their Aussie rivals, who will be their biggest competitors for Olympic spots in 2008. While still three years away, most of the youth team is looking toward Beijing with a strict, intense international training plan ahead. The next three years will be tough but thus far, New Zealand Judo is looking strong for Beijing.
