An exciting nights boxing was seen at Panmure's Lagoon Stadium last week when Box Fit's Regan Foley promoted a top International boxing card. Amateur fights, Corporate fights , an amputee match between Wellington and Auckland, a professional female contest, and professional boxing matches were on the show aptly named "TEST OF COURAGE" Regan Foley, a six times amateur Champion of New Zealand, and a World rated amateur, promoted an outstanding fight card.
One of the American's on the card was Harry Funmaker, a professional with some fourty matches to his credit, and has been in the ring with Butterbean, an Internationally known American heavyweight. Harry defeated Butterbean at their last outing and has also been in the ring with Orlin Norris.
Brian "Bionic Bull" Cohen from America, certainly looked the part with a body like a Greek God, and I don't believe I have seen such an impressive body on a boxer in my 65 years of following the sport.
Veronica Thompson, having her first professional boxing contest also looked the part, having been a Champion body builder in the past before she turned to boxing.
New Zealand favourite Jameson Bostic from the United States was on the bill as was ex cotender from the Australian series Daniel McKinnon.
Chauncy Welliver another Kiwi favourite was seen in a 12 rounder against Daniel Tai, while Harry Venka and Steve Heremaia produced their usual fireworks.
