Since returning from the UK and Middle East at the end of December nothing has slowed down for the Todd Group and Tank.
January began with two weeks in the UK consulting, followed by two weeks in the US evaluating products and various other functions.
While in the UK I conducted a low key two day basic introduction to the Todd System in my downtime and spent time with my right hand man in the UK planning for 2006 commitments as well as visiting the Royal Armouries.
I met with people I had heard of or read from on the net that are into civilian unarmed combat, but until then had not met or could not put a face to. These nice guys included James Farthing, Phil Matthews and Lee Morrison and we all had a low stress weekend of close combat that was both fun and beneficial.
In the US I accompanied a military leader from a foreign country and advised and assisted with the evaluation of information on close combat weaponry. This included attending the Shot Show and a second weapons show in Las Vegas and then visiting potential suppliers in LA.
I also had the pleasure of training a US police department special tactics group before heading for home.
On my return my On Your Todd self defence device was manufactured and offered through the Todd Group and Fight Times.
I had to conduct the first of two intakes for entry exponents at the Todd Group HQ in Dunedin and it was a full muster with applicants having to be declined with all slots full.
The next need for attention was the annual International CQB course set down for the last week of March each year. 2006 is the tenth year we have conducted this course and with every year new exponents sign on and previous exponents return.
This year will be very special indeed with the Todd Group purchasing its own training camp with 280 acres for practical training as well as accommodation for up to 100 exponents and full training facilities.
Prior to taking possession of this camp I left again to train corporates and crowd controllers nationally.
2006 has also seen the Todd Group win a major instructing contract that requires an instructor base of fifty instructors and with courses that require as many as fourteen instructors working on the same course. It also requires courses to be conducted in more than one location and considerable travel and planning.
I also accepted an international chief instructors position in armed and unarmed combat that will see me visiting several countries on a regular basis.
All this and its only February and I am receiving hundreds of coms weekly for training and consultancy from all around the world.
I have been actively recruiting exponents, for from these will come the calibre of instructors we are looking for to join our instructors team in the future to cope with demands.
I will return home the day before the start of the annual course in March and leave again the day after it ends.
My instructor team will train on the annual course and then we will depart for several locations to undertake instructing duties. There have been many in-betweens and hours of planning and preparing but that is a very brief outline of the Todd Group activities from December 20th until the end of February 2006.
