Christchurch short course CQB/CQC training 5-6 July 2014

The headquarters conducted weekend training July 5 and 6 achieve the objectives of working on performance enhancement in phase 1 and attending exponents chosen modules and phase 2 and 3.

Focusing on proponents requested areas concentrated training change the feel of the usual method of progressive combative training conducted at the headquarters and depots.

Having phase 1 committed basic CQC exponents in attendance combined with phase 2 advanced CQC exponent and phase 3 specialist CQB proponents provided the opportunity for combined phases training and all the advantages achieved by having instructors and exponents combined.

The Todd group focuses on recruiting the quiet confident and determined individual over the masses by the nature of the requirements of training and the high level of commitment and inner resolve required by the exponents.

Keeping the Todd group ranks made up of such individuals and providing available and accessible continuation training assistance is very important to the small specialist group requirements to achieve high level proficiency.

Maintaining control of our support training resources and not mass producing and mass marketing keeps the group elite by its training operating procedures and by the exponent’s requirements to succeed and progress.

Small group specialist training maintaining extremely high competency levels requirements combined with steadily increased intensity and training in relation to proficiency gains provides the individual exponents with the best means of confidence and competency achievements.

Having HQ intensive and exported intensive course of instruction as well as short courses training like in Christchurch over the weekend ensures the committed make serious gains.

We have noticed in the last several years with attendees that commit to attending as many of the HQ and exported course of instruction as possible, that these are the individuals that have the highest proficiency and achieving rank and promotion.

The same is evident with instructors that remain current by attending partaking and assisting with intensive and sure courses.

The reality is with military CQB/CQC being a living package subject to development to ensure the best combative chance of ensuring the capabilities to neutralise the most current in relation to threat changes, instructors need to ensure they are completely current with primary practices.

One of the frustrations for exponents but also one of the safety aspects is the reality of countering each other out by means of same system combative practice and testing. The result is very different when the tactics and skills are employed against foe that is not familiar and proficient in the Todd systems.

This weekend’s course provided a considerable amount of expertise and training in methods to achieve combative objectives under high intensity training and testing levels requirements.

This will ensure phase 1 basic exponents in attendance and depot instructors have the capabilities to achieve such objectives and instruct such objectives respectively.

Attending phase 3 specialist proponents and instructors were rotated to provide instruction in the phase 1 package.

This training included disarming primary secondary and emergency practices.

The phase 2 group focused on threat neutralisation by incapacitation and also by the most current of body mechanics related tactical control and restraint.

The phase 3 specialist training included mainly armed combat and ballistic type weapons disarming.

There was time for sitting round the table and discussing individual exponents and instructors plans the 2014- 2015 and upcoming courses of instruction.

It is very important for the Todd group to be made up of committed instructors and exponents and for the HQ to listen to their individual plans and requests in relation to training and training courses of instruction.

Such plans in relation to the Canterbury area include more of the weekend training sure courses and the promotion and conducting of the specialist anti-encounter rape course D-WAR (declare war against rape) as well as the consideration for providing security related defensive tactics and specialist tactical control restraint sure courses.

Not only the feel of attending intensive specialist short course training is different but also the available time which seems to go all too fast.

2014 has already produced some excellent phase test results from proponents that have the commitment and the will to the highest levels of self-improvement.

The Todd group training operational model is as close as a can get to a military combative model.

However, one major difference being members and attendees have to pay to attend partake to ensure we can conduct year round HQ and exported training.

The military with a being a committed career are paid to attend training and this is a major difference.

The Todd group business training model endeavours at all times to keep the training fees to a minimum and reward members in relation to rank by discounting training fees.

This being the case training is as affordable as we can possibly make it and that requires the advance planning commitment and participation of the individual exponent and instructor in relation to achieving and maintaining the highest levels of proficiency.

Individuals need to remember one of the most important aspects of mental toughness is course confirmation and participation.

Conducting intensive week-long and intensive sure courses tests the available individual exponent’s mental toughness in relation to self-improvement and the highest levels of proficiency gaining by available training opportunities.

The weekend training in Christchurch achieved all objectives and certainly dandified some serious proponents and instructors committed to being the best they can be.

We have a full program of exported courses of instruction through until December 2014 providing wide ranging opportunities for our rank-and-file to get or remain current and achieve their highest levels of competency.

We are considering and lost relation week-long intensive course of instruction. Combine with a phase 3 component before the phase 1 and 2 course of instruction March 2015.

This will combine both our annual HQ course and the annual Australian course in one course of instruction.

The reality is with New Zealand and Australia, being so close in relation to travel and flights being so reasonable especially when advance booked; it makes sense to combine both courses.

This will give the Australian attendees the opportunity to train at the old HQ and live CQB/CQC at camp Todd.

Considering we conduct training and exported courses 48+ weeks of the year, combining the two courses will free up several weeks for meeting other training requirements nationally and internationally.

To the lads that attended the weekend short course and the HQ and exported courses of instruction to date, this year, well done and keep up the commitment to self-improvement.
